| Whether its a new home or a remodeling job, the steps in developing a good design are basically the same. They involve getting to understand your likes and dislikes, determining what constraints exist and then combining this information to produce an architectural design. |
It all begins with a call to Architecture PLUS. In that call we set up a meeting to show you what we can do and determine if you would like us to be your architects. We will ask about the general nature of your project and the approximate size and budget you have in mind so that we can bring appropriate materials to this first meeting, which can take place in your home or at our offices.

| Photo | A face-to-face discussion between you and the designer. The goal here is to review any material that you may have collected that will help to describe what you want and to get a verbal description of what you are looking for along with any constraints. This would include any description of the kinds of things that appeal to you and what kinds of things you dislike. Our designer would explain our process and pricing, and provide some preliminary design ideas and examples of our work. If you like what you see and would like to retain the services of Architecture PLUS, then you would be asked to sign a preliminary work agreement. This would be followed up via mail by a work agreement contract. As soon as this signed contract is received by our office, formal design work on your project would begin. |
| Photo | A designer will visit the building lot or construction site to determine the critical dimensions and other physical characteristics that may impact the architectural design. For a remodel, this may happen on the first visit if the construction site is readily accessible from the meeting location. |
| Photo | A designer will bring all the information together to develop design concepts and a preliminary design. This may involve one or two more meetings before the preliminary design meets everyone's satisfaction. Preliminary drawings are usually enough to secure permits and municipal approvals where needed. |
Fourth: Design Approval and Final Drawings
| Photo | The detailed design involves adding architectural and construction details to the design. Where plumbing lines, heating ducts and electrical fixtures will be placed is one example. These details are reviewed for final approval and then construction drawings are generated. |
| Photo | You will typically use construction drawings to get bids from contractors and the contractor will use them to guide construction. If you wish, Architecture PLUS will provide ongoing consultation during the construction phase. |
| Photo | This is the best part, and let us be the first to wish you well in your new home or addition. |
